When Anakin's anger starts to subside, Rey feels it. The swell of it recedes and Rey takes a breath, nodding to herself as things around them start to settle. There are tears on his face as he turns away and Rey lurches forward, hesitating for only a moment before she throws her arms around him in a tight hug.

"I am sorry for what he did to you, Anakin," she tells him, swallowing hard as she hooks her chin over his shoulder. "He-- he stole my whole life from me. He killed my parents. He's the reason I was stuck in that forsaken desert for so long."

She pulls back to look at him, gripping him by the shoulders. "We cannot let him be the end of us. If we do that, he wins."
