Ben remained a looming shadow behind her. He felt, long before hearing it in her voice, the wretched uncertainty and shame overwhelming her, and he struggled against the urge to reach out, either with his mind or his hand, to touch her. The woman behind her counter floundered, her wide-eyes looking to him for assistance, but she was met only with his warning glare.

"Rey," he called, hurrying after her. "You're exhausted. We shouldn't go on foot."

Catching up with her, he reached out to take the envelope from her hands, intent on opening it and finding her lodging assignment.
