“Ben, they’re wonderful,” she assures him, knowing that he hasn’t gotten quite as adventurous with food as she has. “After a lifetime of the same freeze dried portions, I want to try everything. All the time.”

Rey orders two bacon, egg, and cheese burritos and an order of churros, and after a moment’s consideration, she also adds a large coffee for Ben, even though he said he doesn’t mind tea. She wants him to have what he likes, not just what he doesn’t mind.

Once the order is submitted, she tosses her phone aside and turns to press her face into Ben’s neck. He smells like her soap, her shampoo, and an earthy sort of scent that is him alone. She presses a kiss there, resting a hand on his chest before nosing his damp hair out of the way so she can kiss the shell of his ear, nipping playfully at the lobe.
